Neverending Story was almost my all time favourite book growing up. Except for Boy by Roald Dahl, but I read TNS more than any other book. Loved it. LOVED IT. The Auryn as a tattoo. Now there is an idea!

Atreyu!!!
The search for a snake tattoo continues with a conversation with Gempires about ouroboroses (ouroborii?) and a couple of websearches, finding a new blog called eclecticism to be added to my blogroll thanks to this article describing a similar search. His idea: The Auryn from The Neverending Story:
